Early Admission for High School Students
Students who are currently enrolled in high school may enroll in regular sessions at Brazosport College.
Students may enroll for up to six semester hours each summer session without enrolling at the same time in a high school. In special circumstances, a student may be approved for eight semester hours for one six-week summer session and 14 semester hours for a 12-week term.
Dual credit for both high school and college courses may be available. For more information, students should contact the dual/concurrent counselor at their high school.
Students whose TSIA2 testing results require them to enroll in transitional education courses are not eligible for early admission. For more information on TSIA2 Testing see Admission Standards .
Admission to Baccalaureate Programs
Enrollment in third and fourth year college courses in Industrial Management, Health Services Management, or Organizational Leadership and Innovation requires separate application for admission and approval by the Bachelor of Applied Technology Admissions Committee. See Admissions Requirements: Baccalaureate Programs for further information.
Admission to the Nursing Programs
The nursing programs are competitive entry programs that require separate admission and approval. In order to be considered for admission to the programs, students must complete all applications, prerequisite courses, and testing by the program due date. Each program has a different semester in which the applications and testing are administered. See http://www.brazosport.edu/programs/academics/HealthProfessions/ADN/ for more information on the different application processes and specific deadlines for each program. Applicants of degree seeking programs must satisfy TSIA2 requirements.
Academic Fresh Start
State law (Educ. Code, Sec, 51.931) allows students with academic credits earned ten or more years prior to the starting date of the semester in which they seek admission to any public institution of higher education in the state of Texas to have those credits or grades not considered in the admissions decision. If admitted under this Academic Fresh Start provision, the students may not receive any course credit for courses undertaken 10 or more years prior to enrollment. Students must complete a Fresh Start petition prior to admission to Brazosport College. Those hours excluded from credit can be used as a basis for exemption from the Texas Success Initiative. The courses excluded are not calculated in the Brazosport College Grade Point Average (GPA) but will remain on the Brazosport College transcript. Academic Fresh Start is a state law that applies only to admission decisions and does not override federal regulations. Therefore, federal regulations concerning financial aid are not affected by Academic Fresh Start.
