Specialization in Project Management

The demand for project management practitioners, in the United States, is expanding by more than 33%, resulting in nearly 22 million jobs by 2027, according to PMI’s Job Growth & Talent Gap 2017-2027. According to the Project Management Institute, those possessing a baccalaureate degree will need a minimum of 36 months leading projects and at least 35 hours of project management education/training or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification. While some students may meet the practical experience requirement upon graduation many others will not. In this case, students with the PM specialization would be eligible to sit for the CAPM certification, which does not require the practical experience - leading projects.

The CAPM certification offers recognition to practitioners who are interested in or are just starting a career in project management, as well as project team members who wish to demonstrate their project management knowledge. Whatever the task, the project manager ensures that the organization moves in the right direction - forward.
