Sociology Transfer Plan: University To Be Determined
|
|
The pathway below is designed to facilitate transfer for students planning to complete a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology.
- Work with your ACE it coach or a counselor/advisor early in your pathway to customize this plan.
- Consult a transfer advisor at the university you choose.
- When you decide on a transfer university, visit their catalog to ensure transfer requirements are met.
Pathway Notes:
- While an Associate of Arts degree at Brazosport College requires 60 credit hours, the following pathway includes 53 credit hours, applicable to the Bachelor of Science in Sociology.
- Several courses in the transfer plan below may transfer as program electives (as noted). Whether or not these courses will apply to the Bachelor’s degree will depend on the transfer institution selected.
- Many universities also require coursework in a foreign language. Consult the university catalog once a transfer institution has been selected to see if these courses are required.
- It is highly recommended that if a student hasn’t yet decided on a transfer university, they should complete the entire general education core at Brazosport College prior to transfer. If a student completes the General Education Core at Brazosport College, Texas law guarantees the entire 42 credit hour block transfers to any public institution in Texas and substitutes for the university’s core. If a student transfers prior to completing the core, they are subject to the core rules and course requirements of the receiving institution. Both the Associate Bachelor degrees require completion of the 42 credit hour General Education Core Curriculum.

Foundations
Foundations courses provide the footing for the remainder of the Associates Degree and beyond. They provide the knowledge and skills upon which other courses will build. Whether attending full or part time, plan to complete most if not all of Foundations prior to taking courses under Knowledge Building or Preparing for Completion.
Knowledge Building
Knowledge Building courses expand upon foundational learning and develop skills at a deeper level. It is recommended that students complete these courses prior to moving forward to Preparing for Completion.
Preparing For Completion
These courses provide capstone knowledge and skills, which prepares students for their next steps. Before beginning the third set of courses in this pathway, complete the Application for Graduation. You should also meet with your coach/advisor to begin preparing applications for transfer.
