Law Enforcement Academy Program

The information covered will provide foundation knowledge necessary to be a successful peace officer in a citizen-responsive, community-based environment. Successful completion of the certificate will allow the candidate to sit for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer licensing exam.

To request an application and instructions packet, please review the Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) requirements for admission and submit the pre-interest form which can be found at www.brazosport.edu/lea. The application process is very specific and takes approximately six (6) weeks to complete prior to the start date.

Students may choose between two formats: a one-semester daytime academy or a two semester evening academy. Completers of either options will earn:

• 23 credit hours of college credit
• 800 clock hours of instruction
