Other Technical Specialization

Students who have earned credit in a lower division program of study not included in another area of specialization may request approval for those credits to be applied to their baccalaureate degree.  To meet the 31 credit hour lower division technical specialization requirement for this degree, the program of study must include:

• ENGL 2311 Technical and Business Writing  OR POFT 2312 Business Correspondence and Communication  
• One Course From:
  • POFI 1301 Computer Applications I  
  • ITSC 1301 Introduction to Computers  
  • BCIS 1405 Business Computer Applications  
  • BCIS 1305 Business Computer Applications
  • COSC 1301 Introduction to Computing
• A minimum of 25 credit hours of coursework from an approved coherent lower division program of study.

Any proposed lower division program of study must be recommended by the appropriate baccalaureate program coordinator and approved by the BAT admissions committee.  A total of 31 credit hours is required to complete this portion of the Bachelor of Applied Technology degree.  Courses taken to satisfy requirements for the General Education Core Curriculum cannot be used to meet these requirements.
