Biological Sciences Transfer Plans: University of Texas at Austin

The pathway below is designed to facilitate transfer to the University of Texas at Austin for students planning to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Environmental Science.  The pathway, as written, applies to a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  Modifications to the pathway for other majors are also described.

  • Work with your ACE it coach or a counselor/advisor early in your pathway to customize this plan.
  • Consult a transfer advisor at the University of Texas at Austin
  • Visit the UT Catalog to ensure transfer requirements are met.

Pathway Notes:

  • An Associate of Science degree at Brazosport College requires 60 credit hours. The following pathway includes 69 credit hours, applicable to the Bachelor’s degree in Biology at UT Austin.
  • The math requirements in this pathway begin with MATH 2413 Calculus I  , which is the first mathematics course applicable to this degree.  Some students may be required to take a prerequisite course(s) prior to enrollment.
  • Students earning the Bachelor of Science in Biology are required to have two years of a foreign language in high school, or complete two college level courses in the same language.  Brazosport College recommends SPAN 1411 Beginning Spanish I  and SPAN 1412 Beginning Spanish II  for students who did not take a foreign language in high school.
  • Students who complete this transfer plan will also complete the Field of Study: Biology .

Foundations

Foundations courses provide the footing for the remainder of the Associates Degree and beyond.  They provide the knowledge and skills upon which other courses will build.  Whether attending full or part time, plan to complete most if not all of Foundations prior to taking courses under Knowledge Building or Preparing for Completion.

Knowledge Building

Knowledge Building courses expand upon foundational learning and develop skills at a deeper level.  It is recommended that students complete these courses prior to moving forward to Preparing for Completion.

Preparing For Completion

These courses provide capstone knowledge and skills, which prepares students for their next steps.  Before beginning the third set of courses in this pathway, complete the Application for Graduation at the Admission’s Office.  You should also meet with your coach/advisor to begin preparing applications for transfer.

Modifications for Other Majors
