Pipefitters play a major role in the construction and maintenance of plant site systems. Pipefitters fabricate, install and repair piping or tubing systems that convey liquid, gas and occasionally solid materials. Pipefitters are employed in the petroleum, chemical and power industries, as well as the food and beverage industry.

Brazosport College emphasizes hands-on classroom training and provides individual attention. Plus, you can receive college credit for on-the-job work experience through our co-op courses.  Pipefitters typically work with various hand and power tools, as well as computers. They also install automatic controls used to regulate the flow in pipe systems. Due to the number of large plants in our area, graduates have continued successfully in this industry as journeyman pipefitters, supervisors, pipe designers and pipe draftsmen. Job opportunities are on the rise since many people working in pipefitting are expected to retire over the next 10 years.  Brazosport College offers the choice of short-term certificates or a two-year degree. You decide which option is best for you. The best jobs typically go to those with the greatest skills and advanced training.
